Brave Cousin Eva |
Rice pudding was our first choice. It tasted like chewy sugar with a watery liquid on top. We decided to keep looking for something even worse, to thicken the plot. We found what looked like sticky noodles coated in a gooey mess.
We each took a scoop. That was a mistake. When we both smelled it, Eva said, "Ah! it's cream cheese!" We both HATE cream cheese! We weren't brave enough to try it, and I mean who would be? It's cream cheese noodles for goodness sake! And how is that even Mexican?
Finally, Eva picked up a single, diced tomato with her fork and lifted it to her mouth nervously. She looked at me as if saying " I'm gonna vomit." I brought a noodle to my mouth too (Bleh!) and we held like that for some time.
Then, mustering up as much courage as we could, and together took a bite. For a second, we sat stunned, looking at each other with wide eyes, and then began to gag, in sync. I could feel the throw-up inching up my throat. I had to shove it back down so I wouldn't puke all over everything. That would have been really embarrassing. I could already hear my mom saying, "Hey waiter, my kid just vomited all over the table. Would you be a dear and mind getting a towel and cleaning up this mess? Sorry, she just isn't careful with what she eats sometimes. Is that a noodle?" I didn't want that to happen so with much effort, Eva and I spit out the noodle poison, and then spit out the spit that it had corrupted.
We had to eat Jello to get the taste out of our mouths. It didn't really work for me though. That taste would not leave my poor mouth. Those cream cheese noodles with forever haunt me, FOREVER I'm telling you! It was the grossest thing! We learned our lesson, a very valuable lesson indeed, "If you see or smell Mexican cream cheese noodles, avoid immediately, and you won't be stuck with the taste forever."
